How to make product explainer videos quickly
A product explainer does not need to cover every feature. A good short video shows what the product is, who it helps, and why someone should care.
Start with the problem
Viewers understand products faster when they first understand the problem. Open with the issue your product solves.
That gives the product a reason to exist before you list any features.
Show one main benefit
Short videos are not brochures. Pick the most important benefit and build the scenes around it.
If the product has many benefits, create a series of videos rather than one crowded clip.
Use clear visual prompts
The visuals should show the product in context, the customer using it, or the result it helps create.
Avoid generic lifestyle imagery if the product itself needs to be understood.
End with a simple next step
A product video can end with 'learn more', 'visit the website', 'order online', or 'ask us for advice'.
Keep the call to action easy and direct.
A 30 second product explainer script template
0 to 3 seconds (hook): name the problem in one line. 'Tired of [common frustration]?' or 'If your [thing] keeps doing [annoying behaviour], here is why.' This is what stops the scroll. 3 to 10 seconds (context): one sentence on who has this problem and why it happens. Keep it to a single beat.
10 to 22 seconds (product + main benefit): show the product in use and say what changes. 'With [product] you can [main benefit] in [time or effort saved].' One benefit, not five. 22 to 30 seconds (call to action): one direct line. 'Try it free for 7 days at [domain]' or 'Order today, ships from [town] tomorrow.' Subtitles on the whole way through, hook frame chosen as the cover.
Focus on one product benefit
A product explainer does not need to cover every feature. Choose the problem the product solves and build the video around that.
This keeps the video easy to follow. Viewers should understand who the product is for and why it matters before the video ends.
Show use, not just appearance
A product photo shows what something looks like. A short video can show how it fits into a routine, solves a problem or makes a task easier.
Even with generated visuals, the scenes should feel practical: someone using the product, comparing options, or seeing the result.
Try this prompt
Create a 30 second product explainer video for [product], showing the problem it solves and the main benefit.
